Weleda Iscador® preparations are extracted from the mistletoe plant and are becoming increasingly known and accepted in Europe for their valuable contribution to cancer therapy. As the use of Iscador® has become more widespread, its mode of action has been the subject of more research and medical trials.

Its actions are many sided and complex, however it is now recognised that one side of its activity comes from stimulating parts of the immune system that can slow the growth of cancer cells. Many patients also report an improved quality of life such as feeling better and more positive, and also needing less pain relief. For these reasons, Iscador® is often used in conjunction with conventional therapies such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Proper use of Iscador® requires the diagnostic, prescribing and patient management skills of your doctor. Iscador® is available only by your doctor's prescription.  There are very few side effects from Iscador®, and it can be used in conjunction with other medications. A doctor trained in the use of Iscador® may also recommend other Weleda medicines. Patients often find that these further complement conventional or other alternative medicines.

Iscador® is an extract in water from the mistletoe plant. Mistletoe grows on many different types of tree such as Pine (Pini-Iscador® P), Oak (Quercus-Iscador® Qu) and Apple (Mali-Iscador® M). It has been found that different types of illnesses respond better to mistletoe from specific host trees, so for example mistletoe from pine trees, Iscador® P may be used for skin cancer.

Weleda Iscador® is available in boxes of 7 ampules. The U.S. trade name of Iscador® is Iscar®
