fair trade grape leaves
Weleda’s origins in the research and development of both anthroposophic and homeopathic medicines have lead to the creation of innumerable efficacious medicines. Hepatadoron, Greek for “a gift to the liver,” is one of these remedies. For this formulation, Weleda needs 2 tons of dried Grape Leaves each year, equal to 10 -12 tons of fresh leaves.
Grape Leaves must be harvested in very dry and warm environments, making South Africa an ideal location. Weleda’s partner, Parceval, is able to supply Weleda with the substantial quantity and organic quality required. As a result, their demand needs and Weleda’s supply needs are met.
